Judge Orders Transfer of Second Accused in Kasoa Ritual Case to Nsawam Prison

The judge overseeing the Kasoa ritual case has mandated the transfer of the second accused, Nicholas Kini, from police custody to Nsawam Prison.

The 18-year-old is on trial alongside 15-year-old Felix Nyarko for the alleged murder of 10-year-old Ishmael Abdallah in 2021. Both accused have been detained by the police since their arrest.

Nicholas Kini has been moved between various police stations in Accra, including Nima, Ministries, Cantonments, and Osu, due to his frequent involvement in fights with other inmates, as reported by the investigator.

During the court session on Monday, the prosecution informed the judge that the Osu Police Station, where Kini is currently held, has refused to accept him back into their custody. As a result, the prosecution requested the court to issue a trial warrant for his transfer to prison custody.

Despite denying these allegations, Kini’s lawyer acknowledged the information but requested the court to caution his client instead.

Justice Lydia Osei Marfo ordered the transfer of Nicholas Kini to Nsawam Prison and instructed that he be brought to court as needed.
