Boat Owner Arrested After Fatal Oti River Accident

The Dambai Police have detained the proprietor of a boat that met with a tragic accident on the Oti River this past Wednesday.

The mishap led to the drowning of three individuals, while seven others were successfully rescued when the vessel capsized amid strong winds.

Emmanuel Atali, Assembly Member for the Dambai Lakeside Electoral Area, informed Citi News about the situation, noting that the boat owner has been apprehended as investigations proceed.

“We are currently searching for the deceased, but the police have already arrested the boat operator who was navigating the vessel during the incident,” Atali stated.

“As of now, efforts to locate the dead bodies are ongoing. The boat operator is required to provide a statement since he is familiar with the exact location of the accident.”

He also mentioned that the search teams continue to scour the river for the missing bodies, while the survivors are on the mend.

“Everyone who was rescued is now recovering well and is in stable condition,” he added.
