“My Arrest was a Blessing, I’m Popular now” – Hopeson Adorye

Hopeson Adorye, Director of Special Operations for the Movement for Change, has referred to his recent arrest and court appearance as a blessing in disguise.

Adorye believes the arrest has given him substantial political leverage.

In a widely circulated video following his release on bail by the Dansoman Circuit Court on Thursday, May 23, for spreading false information, Adorye claimed that his arrest had significantly boosted his popularity.

“I am doing well. In fact, I was very pleased. What happened on Thursday would take someone 25 to 30 years to achieve this recognition. You might think it was negative, but it actually gave me political mileage that would take someone 30 years to attain.

“The entire world was talking about me,” he added.

The Dansoman court set Adorye’s bail at GH¢20,000 with two sureties.

Adorye was detained after making allegations on an Accra-based radio station, which have since gone viral, asserting that dynamites were detonated in the Volta Region during the 2016 General Elections.
