Nigerian Actor Mr Ibu’s Burial Set for June 28

The family of popular Nigerian actor, John Okafor, widely known as Mr Ibu, has announced his burial arrangements. Mr Ibu, who passed away on March 2 at the age of 62, will be laid to rest in his hometown of Amuri, in the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

According to the family’s press statement, the funeral rites will span five days, with various events leading up to the burial. On June 25, a march will be held in his honor in Amuri. The following day, June 26, a candlelight procession and live entertainment night, dubbed Mr Ibu’s Night, will take place.

On June 27, a wake-keeping ceremony is scheduled at his compound in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West, leading up to the burial and funeral service on June 28. The five-day ceremony will conclude on June 30 with a thanksgiving service in church for family, friends, and well-wishers.

The statement from the Okafor family described Mr Ibu as a hero and legend who left a legacy of love, laughter, and liveliness. They invited everyone to join them in laying to rest their son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and in-law.

Mr Ibu gained fame in 2004 with the movie “Mr Ibu” and went on to feature in over 200 movies, establishing himself as a beloved comedy actor. Some of his notable films include “Coffin Producers,” “Husband Suppliers,” “International Players,” “Mr Ibu in London” (2004), “Police Recruit” (2003), “9 Wives” (2005), “Ibu in Prison” (2006), and “Keziah” (2007).
