18-Year-Old Adanwomase SHS Student Receives 15-Year Prison Sentence for Robbing Teacher

An 18-year-old Gabriel Osei Kwame, a student at Adanwomase Senior High School, has been handed a 15-year prison sentence with hard labour by the Circuit Court at Old Tafo in the Ashanti Region.

Gabriel’s conviction comes after he confessed to robbing his teacher, Matilda Boatema, in a brazen attack near her residence in Adanwomase.

According to reports, the incident occurred on the morning of March 4, 2024, when Gabriel assaulted Matilda with a jackknife and made off with several items, including her Infinix Hot 9 smartphone, cash, and food supplies.

Despite his attempts to evade capture, Gabriel was identified by Matilda and apprehended by the Asonomaso police.

During the court proceedings, Judge Festus Nukunu cited Section 149 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act of 1960 as the basis for the harsh sentence, emphasizing the seriousness of Gabriel’s actions.

Despite the confession, Gabriel was unable to assist in recovering the stolen items, leading to a swift and decisive judgment against him.
