Ghanaian rapper Amerado Burner has taken to social media to express his disappointment at not receiving a nomination for his song “Kweku Ananse (original)” at the recently concluded Telecel Ghana Music Awards nominations. While the remix of the song featuring Fameye was nominated for Best Highlife Song, the original version did not receive any recognition.
In a post on his Facebook page, Amerado Burner directly addressed the Ghana Music Awards board, asking, “Dear Ghana Music Awards, Why was Kwaku Ananse (original) not nominated?” This query has sparked discussions among fans and social media users, with many expressing their support for the artist.
One fan commented, “Amerado Burner, you are one of the finest artistes in Ghana. Awards are good but they can never measure your worth in the hearts of your cherished fans and the rational Ghanaians that value you.” Another suggested that the lack of nomination could be due to allegations of plagiarism leveled against the song in the past, which may have influenced the board’s decision-making process.
Despite the disappointment, Amerado Burner’s song “The Hardest” was nominated for Best Rap Performance.
