Mohamed Diomande Declines Ghana Call-Up, Seeks Time to Decide International Future

Mohamed Diomande has declined Ghana’s call-up for the upcoming friendly matches against Nigeria and Uganda, citing the need for more time to decide on his international future.

Born in Ivory Coast, Diomande previously played for the Right to Dream academy in Ghana before moving to Europe to join FC Nordsjaelland. Despite being included in Otto Addo’s squad for the March international window, he has also been selected for Ivory Coast’s U23 squad.

In a statement on Instagram, the 22-year-old expressed gratitude for Ghana’s call-up and confirmed that he has been in contact with Otto Addo regarding his decision. However, he emphasized that the manager holds the definitive information about his choice.

Sources close to the Black Stars revealed that Diomande was expected to join the team’s camp in Marrakech on Thursday ahead of the Nigeria game on Friday. The Ivorian federation has reportedly reached out to the player, who is yet to earn a cap at the national team level, in an attempt to convince him to reconsider his decision.

Ghana is set to play against Nigeria on March 22, followed by a match against Uganda four days later, with both games scheduled to take place in Morocco.
