Mohamed Kudus Out of Ghana Squad for Nigeria, Uganda Friendlies Due to Injury

Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars, will be missing the talents of midfielder Mohamed Kudus for their upcoming international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda. Kudus, a key player for West Ham, has been sidelined due to a shoulder issue, forcing him to withdraw from contention for the matches.

Initially included in Otto Addo’s 26-man squad for the fixtures in Morocco, Kudus will now sit out as he deals with the shoulder problem. Sources close to the Black Stars revealed that Kudus sustained the injury during West Ham’s Premier League game against Aston Villa last weekend.

Despite completing the full 90 minutes of the match, Kudus experienced pain post-match, prompting his withdrawal from the national team. His absence from West Ham’s international break squad further confirms the need for him to remain in London for recovery.

This injury setback compounds Kudus’ struggles this year, as he arrived at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with a hamstring problem that initially sidelined him. However, he made a significant impact upon his return, scoring crucial goals and earning praise for his performances.

Kudus’ absence, along with defender Nathaniel Adjei’s withdrawal due to discomfort, raises concerns for Ghana’s prospects in the friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda, scheduled for March 22 and March 26, respectively, in Marrakech, Morocco.
