Tragedy struck in Bimbilla on Thursday morning as a nurse in his forties, employed at the Bimbilla Hospital, lost his life in a fatal accident involving a Kia Rhino.
The unfortunate incident occurred as the nurse was returning from his night shift duties. Eyewitnesses recounted that a Benz bus, traveling in the wrong direction, forced the Kia Rhino to swerve, resulting in the fatal collision.
Confirming the incident, Abdulai Yaqoub, the Nanumba North Municipal Chief Executive, conveyed the somber news to Citi News. He expressed condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased nurse.
Following the accident, authorities swiftly responded, with the police promptly transporting the nurse’s body to the hospital morgue for further procedures. Meanwhile, the drivers involved in the accident have been apprehended and are currently in police custody pending investigations.
In a conflicting statement, the driver of the Benz bus denied involvement in the accident, asserting that he had passed the scene before the collision occurred. Investigations into the matter are ongoing to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the tragic loss of life.
