I Want to Win the World Cup and the AFCON – Kurt Okraku Declares

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has expressed his unwavering determination to etch his name in Ghanaian football history by leading the nation to victory in major international tournaments, including the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the FIFA World Cup.

Okraku’s resolute stance comes in the wake of criticism leveled at the Black Stars following their disappointing performance at the AFCON 2023, where they failed to advance past the group stages. Speaking at a press conference in Kumasi, Okraku addressed the scrutiny by reaffirming his ambition to win prestigious competitions for Ghana.

“I want to win the AFCON; I want to win the World Cup! I want to win every competition Ghana finds itself. This is the collective belief and mindset of my fellow Executive Council members,” declared Okraku, underscoring his commitment to elevating Ghanaian football to new heights.

He points to the nation’s rich tradition of producing talented athletes and ongoing efforts to modernize facilities such as the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence as signs of progress.

“I want to position the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence very well and make it an enviable international standard,” Okraku affirmed, highlighting his vision to enhance the infrastructure and resources available for developing football talent in Ghana.
