NPP Vetting Committee Approves All Ashanti Region Parliamentary Hopefuls for Primaries

The National Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), entrusted with vetting and selecting aspiring parliamentary candidates in the Ashanti region, has unanimously approved all candidates to compete in their respective constituency primaries.

Two committees were tasked with overseeing this critical process in the region, greenlighting all 128 parliamentary hopefuls and advising them to proceed with their campaign efforts. This vetting procedure stands as an integral component in the party’s comprehensive method for electing parliamentary candidates nationwide.

Mr. Henry Nana Boakye, Chairman of the vetting panel, addressed journalists, commending the aspirants for their conduct during the assessment. He highlighted their exemplary behavior as a testament to enhanced unity among contestants across various constituencies, aiming to secure a victory for the party.

Nana Boakye emphasized that all candidates demonstrated adherence to the party’s principles, urging them and their supporters to prioritize unity within the party and steer clear of animosity and discord during the campaign period.

The committee is yet to compile and present its report to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party. Nana Boakye clarified that while certain concerns were raised, no disqualifications have been made. All outstanding issues will be forwarded to the National Council for further review.

He further assured that all aspirants in the 41 constituencies with incumbent MPs received fair hearings during the vetting process. This equitable approach aims to ensure a level playing field for all contenders as they vie for candidacy within the NPP.
