In a recent address during the commissioning of the Koforidua Sports Stadium, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo shared significant milestones achieved through government initiatives, emphasizing the One District One Factory (1D1F) program’s success in generating employment opportunities for Ghanaians. He revealed that the 1D1F initiative has created jobs for 160,000 individuals across 169 factories.
President Akufo-Addo underscored the growth in the tourism sector, noting a 10% increase in tourism-related jobs, reaching a total of 277,985. Moreover, he highlighted ongoing efforts to provide training to 6,000 young individuals engaged in various roles within the tourism industry, aiming to discover talent and enhance the sector’s value chain.
In his address, the President unveiled plans to bolster youth entrepreneurship through the YouStart program. This initiative is set to receive GH¢200 million, along with a substantial injection of US$150 million from the World Bank. The primary objective is to empower young entrepreneurs, aiding them in establishing commercially viable businesses and ultimately mitigating youth unemployment.
