Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew, currently shining at Crystal Palace, is setting his sights on a successful year ahead, prioritizing team victories over personal achievements.
Ayew’s recent impressive performance against Brentford in the Premier League capped off a strong season at the club level, contributing to Roy Hodgson’s side’s 3-1 win on December 30.
As he prepares to join the Black Stars camp ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Ayew emphasized his commitment to securing as many wins as possible for his team. Speaking to Crystal Palace’s website, he emphasized that while he doesn’t set personal targets, his primary focus is on the team’s success.
“I don’t really set targets. Me, personally, I always want the team to play well and to win games, and if I can chip in, I’ll be very happy,” Ayew expressed, highlighting his team-oriented approach.
For Ayew, the most significant aspiration in the New Year revolves around good health for himself, his family, and the entire team. He prioritizes the collective well-being over individual accomplishments.
Currently, the Black Stars are in Kumasi for their AFCON preparations, grouped alongside Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique. A group of 24 players began training at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Tuesday, with the remaining squad members expected to join by Friday.
