Technical Challenges Prompt Rescheduling of District Level Elections in some Electoral Areas

At Nyamekrom’s Nana Oware Agyapong M/A Basic School, the anticipated electoral process took an unexpected turn, leaving residents in disbelief. Electoral officers clad in EC-branded blue jackets swiftly disassembled electoral items, including removing cordon tapes, at polling centers A, B, and C. This abrupt action caught residents off guard, as the officers, after a brief meeting, departed without disclosing their decisions or rationale, leaving an air of confusion hanging over the polling center.

Expressing their dismay to Citi News, residents highlighted the lack of communication and the sudden disruption of the electoral proceedings. The atmosphere simmered with frustration and astonishment at the unexplained turn of events.

However, shedding light on the incident, a press release issued by the Electoral Commission addressed the situation. It revealed that technical challenges had arisen, necessitating the rescheduling of district-level elections in several electoral areas across the Eastern and Ashanti regions. The new date for these elections is slated for the 21st of December.

In the wake of this unforeseen circumstance, the Electoral Commission extended its apologies for the inconvenience caused. The statement aimed to assuage concerns and clarify the abrupt disruption, attributing it to these technical challenges that warranted the rescheduling of the electoral process in specific areas.
