Eunice Lasi, the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Sege Constituency, has withdrawn her affiliation with the party and announced her intention to vie for the Sege seat as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 elections.

In a press conference held at her campaign headquarters in Sege on December 12, Lasi officially declared her decision, attributing it to the counsel and encouragement received from her supporters. This move comes subsequent to her defeat to Dodzie Numekevor in the recent primaries, prompting her to sever ties with the NPP.

Citing purported malpractices orchestrated by the Constituency executives and the regional party chairman, Divine Otu Agorhom, during the primaries, Lasi conveyed her resignation to the NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Koduah, in a letter dispatched last week.

Furthermore, Lasi directed her followers to remove any campaign posters bearing NPP affiliations. This decision follows her suspension from the NPP Sege constituency on June 12 due to what the party termed as “insulting outbursts” on social media platforms, causing internal discord among the party base. Despite warnings to moderate her behavior, Lasi allegedly persisted with actions deemed disruptive by the party officials.

Expressing her commitment to providing effective representation to the people of Sege, Eunice Lasi affirmed her decision to contest independently in the upcoming elections, prioritizing the voices of her supporters and her dedication to serving her constituency.
