Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodio constituency, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has disclosed his decision not to pursue re-election after serving as the constituency’s MP since 2013 under the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Citing frustration and challenges encountered in the parliamentary role, Vanderpuye expressed disillusionment with the lack of support and protection from political parties, making the job increasingly demanding and draining. He highlighted the absence of an enabling environment for leveraging one’s skills and competencies, contributing to his loss of interest in the political sphere.

In recent interviews, Vanderpuye hinted at potential career shifts post-Parliament. While expressing an interest in returning to teaching, a profession he previously held, he also hinted at the possibility of assuming a clerical role, suggesting a potential move towards becoming a pastor.
