He stressed the significance of innovation and resilience in agriculture, aligning with this year’s theme, “Delivering Smart Solutions for Sustainable Food Security and Resilience.”

Mahama underscored the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) unwavering commitment to rejuvenate farming, aiming to revolutionize the agricultural sector. The core focus lies in achieving food self-sufficiency through a policy designed to bolster large-scale commercial agricultural production. Central to this policy is the establishment of robust cooperative systems supported by Farmers Service Centres nationwide, aimed at facilitating access to agricultural credit and inputs.

Moreover, Mahama outlined plans to introduce agro-processing units across all regions, aiming to elevate the value of agricultural products and create more opportunities for farmers. These processing plants will primarily target a wide range of crops, including palm, cashew, groundnuts, cotton, coffee, cocoa, soya, cassava, shea nuts, cereals, ginger, spices, cut flowers, fruits, and horticultural products.

Mahama assured farmers of the NDC’s commitment to prioritize their welfare, vowing to tirelessly work towards ensuring they receive essential resources and support for their prosperity. He acknowledged the indispensable role farmers play as the backbone of the nation’s economy and pledged continued investment in their success.
