Today, the Trade and Industry Minister, K.T Hammond, is slated to present the Export and Import Regulations 2023 before Parliament. This legislative instrument aims to impose limitations on the importation of 22 specific vital products like sugar, rice, poultry, and tripe into the nation.

The presentation of this policy document faced postponement during Tuesday’s parliamentary session, marking the third such delay it has encountered. The reason for the deferment was to enable the Minister to engage with the Minority caucus regarding certain amendments made to the legislative instrument.
