During the presentation of the 2024 budget to Parliament, Ghana’s Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, acknowledged the severe economic impact that unfolded in 2020. He highlighted a substantial decline in GDP growth, plummeting from 6.5 percent in 2019 to a mere 0.5 percent due to the harsh effects of lockdowns, business closures, and port shutdowns.

These factors contributed to a significant cost-of-living crisis, burdening the Ghanaian populace with immense difficulties.
