Zimbabwean artist Crispen recently graced the airwaves of Hitz 103.8fm, taking the opportunity to showcase his newly released single, “Happiness,” on #DayBreakHitz with Doreen Avio. During the interview, Crispen adeptly capitalized on the platform to present himself and his music.
Highlighted as a rising star at the recent TIDAL RAVE event in Accra, Crispen pleasantly surprised attendees with a live performance of “Happiness,” marking a significant moment in his burgeoning career.
Entering the Afrobeats scene, predominantly dominated by West African artists, Crispen, under the wing of Sky Entertainment, seamlessly transitioned from RnB to Afro sounds, signaling a pivotal shift that enabled the budding musician to explore new horizons.
Acknowledging his influences, Crispen credited artists like Stonebwoy, Kuami Eugene, Larruso, and Fameye as pivotal figures from whom he draws inspiration, shaping and refining his musical journey.
Under the label Sky Entertainment, a Ghanaian music record company, Crispen unleashed “Happiness,” accompanied by a vibrant video that harmonizes with the song’s uplifting essence.
Relocating from Zimbabwe and securing a deal in Ghana marked a turning point in Crispen’s career. He expressed deep gratitude for the exposure and momentum Ghana has granted him, far exceeding what he experienced in his homeland. While actively pursuing music since 2018, he faced discouragement along the way, reaching a low point with only 2% hope remaining for his musical aspirations. However, his affiliation with Sky Entertainment revitalized his passion, reaffirming his dedication to music.
In his track “Happiness,” Crispen intentionally incorporates Ga and Twi languages, an ode to his newfound home and family in Ghana. Despite his embrace of Ghana’s support, he also sends appreciation to his roots in Zimbabwe.
