Dr. Bawumia Projected to Lead NPP with 80.8% Support, According to Latest Polls

According to a recent survey conducted by the Centre for Sustainable African Development Initiatives (C-SADI) in the UK and The Outcomes International in Ghana, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is projected to emerge as the frontrunner in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership contest.

The research findings indicate that Dr. Bawumia is poised to secure a significant victory, capturing an impressive 80.8% of the delegates’ votes. The survey also revealed that Hon. Kennedy Agyapong follows behind with 10.4% support, while Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Hon. Francis Addai-Nimoh garnered 1.1% and 0.4% respectively. Approximately 7.3% of the delegates remain undecided, as stated in the report.

The assessment of candidates by the delegates primarily revolves around the candidate’s vision for the party and the country, as well as their competence. The delegates believe that if the government’s performance improves and the party remains united leading up to the 2024 elections, the NPP stands a good chance of “breaking the 8,” referring to the party’s goal of securing a third consecutive term in office.
