 GTP Launches First Physical Retail Store in Accra, Bringing Ghanaian Textiles to Life

GTP, the leading print and textiles brand in West Africa, has made an exciting move by opening its inaugural physical retail store in the bustling city of Accra.

Situated on the renowned Osu Oxford Street, the store welcomed its first customers on Friday, October 28th, 2023, marking a significant milestone for the brand.

The launch event saw the presence of notable personalities, including media personality Sika Osei, fashion designer Elikem Kumordzie, journalist Israel Laryea, beauty queens, and loyal customers and friends of the GTP brand.

During the launch, Jessica Okwabi, the Head of Retail at GTP, explained the rationale behind choosing the Osu Oxford Street location, highlighting its popularity and high footfall. She stated, “We decided Osu Oxford Street is the perfect place because this is a place that a lot of people frequent, but we also know that there’s high traffic in the area.”

With a year of meticulous planning, the store was designed to immerse customers in a traditional Ghanaian and African ambiance. Okwabi emphasized the importance of staying true to the brand’s Ghanaian and African heritage, ensuring that traditional elements are incorporated throughout the store.

In addition to the retail space, the launch showcased GTP’s introduction of a ready-to-wear collection for both men and women. Attendees had the opportunity to witness models showcasing designs from the collection, which will be available for purchase at the store.

GTP, established in January 1966, has been an integral part of the Ghanaian market and holds the distinction of being the first indigenous brand created in Ghana. With a mission to provide high-quality African prints that stay true to Ghanaian roots and cultural authenticity, GTP aims to uplift and satisfy its customers.
