The Ghana Police Service Have Issued Preparations and Traffic Arrangements for Planned OccupyBoGHouse Demonstration

The Ghana Police Service has announced that it has made adequate preparations to ensure peace, security, law, and order for the planned demonstration by the Minority Group in Parliament, scheduled to take place tomorrow, Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023.

In a statement released earlier today, the Police assured the public that they are fully prepared to handle the demonstration and maintain a peaceful environment during the event. They have urged the public to cooperate with the security arrangements and bear with any inconvenience that may arise as a result of the demonstration.

To ensure the smooth flow of traffic and minimize disruptions in the affected areas of the capital city, the Police have outlined specific traffic arrangements that motorists and pedestrians should take note of.

According to the Police statement, the demonstrators will gather at the Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and proceed along the following route: Adabraka – Ridge Roundabout – National Theatre Traffic Light – High Court Complex Traffic Light – Attah Mills Highway. The demonstration will make a U-turn at the National Lotteries and terminate at the Independence Square.

During the course of the demonstration, the road from the Independence Square in front of the National Lotteries towards the Old Parliament Traffic Light will be temporarily blocked to vehicular traffic. However, alternative routes have been identified to divert the blocked traffic. Motorists are advised to use the Starlet Traffic Light through the Ministries Traffic Light, passing in front of the office of the Department of Urban Roads (DUR), through National Lotteries, and then linking up with the AMA office Road to EOCO. From there, they can take a detour back to the John Evans Atta Mills Highway at the old Parliament Traffic Light intersection.

The Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) will deploy personnel at various intersections to assist the motoring public and ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

The Police have called upon the organizers of the demonstration and all participants to cooperate fully with the security arrangements in accordance with the Public Order Act. It is essential for the smooth conduct of the demonstration and to maintain public safety.

The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to working together with all stakeholders and the public at large to deepen democratic credentials and ensure peace, security, law, and order in the country. They remain steadfast in their duty to protect and serve the Ghanaian people.

As the scheduled demonstration approaches, the Police have emphasized that they are fully prepared to handle any situation that may arise and are dedicated to maintaining a peaceful environment during the event. The public is urged to remain vigilant, cooperative, and supportive of the security measures put in place for the successful execution of the demonstration.
