James Klutse Avedzi, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), has advised Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) not to renew contracts with the waste management firm Zoomlion due to a lack of visible benefits. The directive follows a parliamentary decision not to renew Zoomlion’s contract and arose during a public accounts committee hearing in Ho.
Avedzi highlighted concerns about the transparency of contracts between Zoomlion and various Assemblies, emphasizing that many Assemblies lack transparency regarding the terms of their agreements with the company. He urged MMDAs to review their contract documents and inform Zoomlion of their intention not to renew when the contract expires if they are not receiving sufficient benefits.
