Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu in the Volta region, has donated over 100 life jackets to his constituency.
He provided these jackets to ensure the safety of young citizens who need to cross the Volta River to register at the EC office in Battor. This initiative is in response to the Electoral Commission’s decision to have only one registration center per district, which forces around 2,000 18-year-olds to undertake a risky journey to get registered.
The EC had not provided the necessary resources, including life jackets, for such constituencies, which Mr. Okujeto Ablakwa finds regrettable. His primary objective is to keep the people of North Tongu safe.
