The residents of Kasoa, located in the Central Region, are making an appeal to the Electoral Commission for the introduction of additional equipment or the establishment of more registration centers to facilitate the Limited Registration process. This request stems from the high population density of Kasoa, which has led to overcrowding at the registration centers during the third day of the registration.
During interviews, some of the individuals seeking registration expressed their dissatisfaction with the substantial costs incurred for transportation to reach the registration center. Additionally, they lamented the inconvenience of the situation, particularly citing the poor condition of the road leading to the center, riddled with potholes, which makes commuting a challenging and burdensome task. The relentless heat of the sun during the lengthy waiting periods further compounds their discomfort.
One registrant highlighted the issue of machine pressure caused by the substantial number of people at the center, leading to frequent interruptions and network connectivity problems. These challenges significantly prolong the registration process, resulting in a protracted and exhausting experience for those involved.
Furthermore, it was revealed that at some of the registration centers in Kasoa, individuals are compelled to spend nights due to the lack of basic amenities such as toilets and access to running water. This situation highlights the pressing need for improved infrastructure to better accommodate the registrants.
