The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has chosen to end their recent strike action. This decision was made through a vote conducted by the National Executive Committee (NEC) on September 4, 2024. CETAG members had been on strike since August 1, 2023, to push the government to honor their negotiated conditions of service.

In light of this vote, the strike is officially suspended starting from Tuesday, September 5, 2023. CETAG has specified that it reserves the right to reconsider its stance if, by October 31, 2023, all the Arbitral Awards issued haven’t been implemented by the Employer/Ministry of Education.

The association has also communicated that all its members should return to work by no later than Thursday, September 7, 2023. It’s worth noting that the strike led to the Ministry of Education instructing the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) to withhold the August 2023 salaries of CETAG members.
