Manchester United and Chelsea qualify for the Champions League

Manchester United and Chelsea both secured a place in next season’s Champions League in a dramatic end to the 2019/20 Premier League season.

Leicester City missed out on the final day having spent most of the campaign in the top four, but a 2-0 loss at home to United saw them finish fifth.

Chelsea, meanwhile, clinched fourth spot with a 2-0 win at home to Wolves, who in turn fell out of sixth place to be overtaken by Tottenham.

United needed a 71st minute penalty to take the lead at Leicester, which Bruno Fernandes converted, before Jesse Lingard ended the Foxes’ hunt in stoppage time.

Frank Lampard’s side’s win was earned through two stoppage time goals in first half as Mason Mount and Olivier Giroud got themselves on the scoresheet.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was dropped by the English coach, with Willy Caballero being chosen in his place.
