“Start Your Own Business, Gov’t Payroll Is Full” – Ofori-Atta Bluntly Advises UPSA Graduates

Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta has advised graduates of the University of Professional Studies not to start their own businesses.

Speaking to fresh graduates at the Accra based University, the Finance Minister said the government payroll is full with not space to accommodate new employees.

“… most people look for a job from government or state institutions, but that payroll is full. I can tell you that because we are spending about 60 percent of our revenue on remunerating some 650,000 people, and that is not sustainable,” he said.

The co-founder of Data Bank urged the graduates to make good use of their entrepreneurial skills because using it effectively creates wealth.
