DO or DIE : ‘It’s Extremely Hypocritical To Argue Against Mahama’s Idiomatic Expression’- Actress Lydia Forson To Critics

Award-winning Ghanaian actress, Lydia Forson says it has been amusing for her listening to people oppose and defend each other intellectually on John Mahama’s Do or Die comment.

Following the declaration by the Former President John Dramani Mahama during his ‘Thank You’ tour in some parts of the country that the upcoming 2024 general elections will be a ‘Do or Die’ affair, many Ghanaians have expressed their varying views about the statement.

Many individuals, opinion leaders and politicians especially the NPP entourage have heavily criticized the former head of state for making such declaration as they charged him to retract the statement.

However, Mr Mahama has insisted he will never retract the comment because it is just an idiomatic expression.

According to him, he wants his party executives, party polling station agents and supporters to be vigilant during the 2024 elections since elections are not won at the court room but at the polling stations.

The outspoken actress took to Twitter to also share view on the ongoing ‘Do or Die’ saga.

According to Lydia Forson, the long and short of this whole argument is that it exposes the dishonesty of politicians.

She further stated that she doesn’t like the word ‘die’ especially being used in our political terrine because of how volatile our political atmosphere is.

“Personally, I don’t like the word ‘die’ in any political statement, because of how volatile our political atmosphere is.

But it’s extremely hypocritical to argue against Mahama’s idiomatic expression ‘do or die, when y’all held placards screaming ‘all die be die’. You ok??” She tweeted.
