AC Milan Say Zlatan Ibrahimovic Is ‘Recovering Well’ From Calf Injury

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is on his way back to full health after a calf injury, with AC Milan releasing a statement saying recent tests showed ‘no complications.’

The 38-year-old picked up the injury in training last month, but quickly allayed concerns that he had ruptured his Achilles tendon, an injury which could have brought an end to his career.

The club statement said: ‘Ibrahimovic has undergone a check-up following the injury to his right soleus muscle.

‘His recovery is proceeding well, without complications and a new check-up is to be expected in about 10 days.’

The forward had originally flown back to his home country of Sweden after picking up the injury, but returned to Italy this week and received his latest test on Thursday.

AC Milan are set to face Juventus in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final next weekend, although Ibrahimovic will miss that match regardless of whether he is fit due to suspension.

The tie is evenly poised at 1-1, and if AC Milan do manage to progress to the final against either Inter Milan or Napoli, there is a chance Ibrahimovic could be fit and ready to play on June 17.

AC Milan will be putting a high priority on the Italian cup, with the club adrift of the top teams in Serie A in seventh place, 27 points behind leaders Juventus.

Ibrahimovic joined AC Milan earlier this season on a free transfer after leaving LA Galaxy, and has played 10 matches for the club since then, scoring four goals and making one assist.
