Manchester United Agree a £250,000 Deal For Sunderland’s Joe Hugill

Manchester United have agreed a £250,000 deal with Sunderland for teenage striker Joe Hugill.

The 16-year old is an old fashioned style centre forward and is seen as one who could develop and give United’s youth ranks a different dimension.

United have been keen to tie up a deal since March and Hugill has a decent goal scoring record at U18 level which prompted a promotion to Sunderland’s U23s earlier this year.

Hugill however will have to wait to ratify his move as lockdown restrictions mean he will be unable to complete the relevant medical just yet.

Tottenham were also in the hunt for Hugill, after scout Ian Broomfield went to watch him play earlier in the year.

However, United have taken advantage of their delay due to the coronavirus outbreak and swooped for the youngster.

He will fit in well within Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s current strategy of signing young players with potential.

Manchester United are still as reliant on their young talent as ever, and their record of including an academy graduate in their matchday squad ticked past 4,000 earlier this season.
