‘Kane will know very soon whether to stay at Spurs or push for move’ – Tim Sherwood

Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood says Harry Kane will know “very soon” whether he wants to push for a move away from the club.

Kane warned last month he would not stay at Spurs “for the sake of it”, suggesting he would consider his future if the team is no longer “progressing”.

The England captain has enjoyed a fine career at Tottenham since making his full debut under Sherwood in 2013, but major silverware has eluded the England captain.
Spurs have not won a trophy since the 2008 League Cup, and have taken up step back since reaching the Champions League Final last season.

Jose Mourinho’s men were out of every club competition and facing a real battle to finish inside the top four when the season was put on hold because of the coronavirus outbreak.
Kane’s comments alerted Manchester United, who are keen to sign the striker but could be priced out of any deal in the current economic climate.

Spurs value the 26-year-old at £200million, but are adamant he is not for sale. Kane now faces a key period in his career and Sherwood believes the coming months could be decisive.
“It’s like Alan Shearer,” he told the Mail.

“He finishes fourth with Blackburn (in 1992-93), then second (in 1993-94). Manchester United are all over him. But he decides to stay, because he believes we have the quality to win it, and we did the next season.
“Harry needs to assess this himself. I would wait to see what they do in the summer.

“They’ve got a manager who has not gone there to only finish inside the top four. Harry will know very soon if the club are willing to spend that money to give themselves that opportunity of winning the league.”
