Minority MPs Clash With Armed Security Personnel [Video]

NDC Members of Parliament led by the honourable minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu have marched in a protest to the headquarters of the Electoral Commission to present a petition to the chairperson of the EC.

According to the minority MPs, the results of Techiman South parliamentary election in particular is a bone of contention because they believe they won that particular seat by over 700 votes.

The NDC, since the EC’s declaration on 9th December, have led a series of demonstrations in protest of the election results which they describe as flawed.

In one such demonstration this morning, the minority MPs who were expected to march peacefully to the headquarters of the EC to present their petition were met with the brute force of some armed policemen.

The unfortunate encounter has raised many concerns since it is not illegal to visit public offices in Ghana during working hours and also not illegal to petition a government institution

This moved many people to believe that the government is responsible for the police’s decision to prevent the NDC MPs from reaching the EC’s head office in Accra today the 22nd of December, 2020 just to present their petition.
