Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has come to the defense of Sammy Gyamfi, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, following public uproar over a viral video in which he gifted her U.S. dollars.

Speaking during a church service, Agradaa revealed that the amount in question was \$800 and described the backlash as exaggerated. “How much is \$800?” she asked, urging National Democratic Congress (NDC) members to refrain from condemning the gesture, which she framed as a blessing rather than a scandal.

Critics, including former MP Ras Mubarak, have argued the move was inappropriate, particularly as it comes at a time when President Mahama has just launched a Code of Conduct for public officials.

Agradaa insisted the money was simply a kind gift and not a political transaction. “It was just generosity. If you criticise this and later take money from any government official, you curse yourself,” she added.

Sammy Gyamfi, in a statement, apologised for what he called an “act of kindness” that unintentionally caused public concern. Meanwhile, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has summoned him to the Jubilee House for further explanation as pressure mounts over ethical accountability.
