Ghana’s Black Stars have dropped to 77th in the latest FIFA Rankings, a fall of four places since October, after a disappointing campaign in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The team, which was previously ranked 73rd, recorded no wins during the qualifiers, ending with three draws and three losses. This marks the first time in two decades that Ghana has failed to qualify for the AFCON tournament.
The decline in rankings began in September following a home loss to Angola and a draw with Niger. October’s matches saw further setbacks with a goalless draw against Sudan and a 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture.
Despite the team’s poor performance, reports suggest that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) plans to retain Otto Addo as head coach.
