6 Aggrey Memorial SHS Students Arrested Over Alleged Assault on Adisadel College Final-Year Student in Cape Coast

The in Cape Coast has arrested six students of in connection with the alleged assault of a final-year student of during an inter-colleges sports festival.

According to a press release issued by the Central Regional Command on February 24, 2026, the incident occurred on Friday, February 20, 2026, at about 3:30 p.m., following the inter-colleges sports event held at the .

The victim, identified as Rexford Owusu-Ansah, was reportedly leaving the stadium with two friends when they were approached by a group of students believed to be from Aggrey Memorial SHS. The suspects allegedly asked whether they attended Adisadel College and subsequently attacked them.

While two of the victim’s friends managed to escape, Rexford was reportedly overpowered, knocked to the ground, and beaten severely. The assailants allegedly made away with his iPhone 17 Pro Max, an amount of approximately GH¢1,400 in cash, and his shoes.

He was initially rushed to the stadium clinic and later referred to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital, where he received treatment. He was discharged on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

A police medical report endorsed by a medical doctor indicated that the victim sustained a fractured bone around his right eye, leaving him unable to open it properly, with further complications noted.

The school authorities of Aggrey Memorial SHS later handed over the six juvenile suspects to the Kotokuraba Police Station at about 7:30 p.m. on the same day to assist with investigations.

The Central Regional Police Command has strongly condemned the incident and assured the public that due process will be followed and that the juvenile suspects will face the full rigours of the law.
