Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has taken legal action against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and its head, Kissi Agyebeng, seeking multiple reliefs, including compensation, injunctions, and a declaration of rights violations.

Filed on March 13, 2025, the lawsuit challenges the OSP’s decision to declare him a wanted person, a move Ofori-Atta argues was unlawful and damaging to his reputation. Central to his case is the claim that Agyebeng failed to act fairly and professionally, especially by altering their engagement process through public media rather than legal channels.

Ofori-Atta is asking the court for several key reliefs, including:

  • A declaration that Agyebeng breached his duty to act fairly by using a media briefing to revise the terms of their official engagement.
  • The immediate removal of Ofori-Atta’s photograph and personal details from the OSP’s wanted list published on its website.
  • Compensation for the harm caused by the public declaration labeling him a fugitive.
  • A directive for the OSP to officially serve any investigation-related documents through his lawyers.
  • An injunction preventing the OSP from taking steps to forcibly return him to Ghana while the matter remains in court.

Ofori-Atta’s legal team argues that his continued listing as a wanted person—despite formal communication about his health condition and travel plans—violates due process and has caused significant damage to his personal and professional reputation.
