President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that $400 million was spent on the Agenda 111 hospital project under the previous administration, yet not a single facility has been fully completed and made operational.
Speaking during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on February 27, 2025, Mahama criticized the mismanagement of funds allocated to the ambitious healthcare initiative, which aimed to construct 111 hospitals across the country.
“It is worth disclosing that $400 million has already been disbursed under the Agenda 111 project, yet not a single hospital under this gargantuan initiative is serving the people of Ghana,” Mahama stated.
He further suggested that, with efficient resource management, the amount spent could have completed and operationalized at least 22 hospitals.
His remarks raise serious concerns about the execution of the project and the need for accountability in government spending.
