Hawa Koomson’s Life Was Under Threat; Cut Her Some Slack! – Nana B Tells Critics

NPP National Youth Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye has jumped to the defence of the Awutu Senya East MP and Special Development Initiatives Minister, Mavis Hawa Koomson who fired gunshots at a voter registraton center in the Central Region.

Hon. Hawa Koomson was spotted with a gun and firing warning shots at the Step to Christ voters’ registration centre in the Awutu Senya East constituency.

Her action has been criticized by many people in the nation but Henry Nana Boakye, popularly called Nana B says Ghanaians should cut the MP some slack.

According to him, Hon. Hawa Koomson acted out of fear for her life.

Contributing to Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ morning show, Nana B narrated the circumstances that led her to react in the manner she did at the center.

“Her life was under threat. She got information in the morning that some people are being bused to the registration centre. At the same time, she also was receiving messages of attack on her. So, she had information that a bus had brought some people to do the registration. While she was on her way to the centre, she was met by some unidentifiable men on motorcycles and was sore afraid when they started approaching her. Looking at how the situation was unfolding, she was compelled to fire warning shots,” he narrated.

He further noted that the Police has begun investigations into the issue, therefore calling on Hawa Koomson’s critics to tone down on her matter.

“The Police has begun investigations into this issue, so I will not want to pre-empt their job. But what happened was purely self-defence. Her life was under serious attack. She had to protect herself which obviously it’s also allowed under our laws. As the Police are handling the issue, I plead that whoever is found culpable should face the rigors of the law,” he said.
