A fatal road accident on the Apire–Hemang stretch in the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipality has claimed three lives, with one person left in critical condition.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, March 20, 2026, when a tipper truck loaded with sand reportedly suffered brake failure, lost control, and crashed into two private vehicles.
Eyewitnesses say the impact was severe, leaving some victims trapped in the wreckage for hours before personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service arrived to carry out rescue operations.
According to a commercial driver, Francis Twumasi, the crash was caused by brake failure, adding that reckless driving by some tipper truck operators has made the stretch increasingly dangerous.
The injured victim has been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to the mortuary.
The incident has renewed concerns over road safety and vehicle maintenance, particularly among heavy-duty truck operators.
