Twenty-eight foreign nationals and a landlord have been arrested during a joint security operation at Pakyi Numbers One and Two in the Amansie West District.

The operation was carried out by the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana Police Service, and the Amansie West District Assembly to clamp down on foreigners residing in the area without valid documentation.

Security personnel acted on intelligence reports about the presence of undocumented foreign nationals within the communities.

Authorities say the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws and address illegal residency in the district.

The suspects were taken into custody for screening and further investigations to determine their immigration status and possible involvement in other unlawful activities.

Speaking to journalists after the operation, Prince Manu Morris, District Chief Executive of Amansie West, cautioned landlords to be vigilant when renting out their properties.

He stressed that accommodating foreigners without verifying their legal status in the country violates Ghana’s laws.

“It is against Ghana’s laws to rent accommodation to persons whose stay in the country is not properly documented,” he said.

The DCE urged residents to promptly report foreigners living in their communities without proper documentation to the District Assembly or security agencies.

He also warned individuals who assist undocumented foreigners to enter or remain in the country to desist from such acts, adding that authorities would take firm action against offenders.

According to him, the District Assembly will continue working closely with security agencies to maintain law and order and protect residents.

The suspects are currently undergoing further processing by officers of the Ghana Immigration Service, after which appropriate legal action will be taken in accordance with the laws of Ghana.
