Twenty-one individuals have lost their lives in a fatal car accident along the Juaso-Nkawkaw road. The unfortunate event, which took place at the Pra-River Junction on March 15th, 2024, around 5:50 pm, has left families and communities reeling from the loss.
Initial investigations by the Ghana Police Service reveal that the deceased driver, Yaw Egyiri, was operating a Ford Transit Mini Bus, registered as GR 6279-24, en route from Konongo to Accra. In a reckless attempt to overtake other vehicles, Egyiri collided head-on with a VW Sprinter Bus, registered as AS 4483-23, driven by another deceased driver whose identity is yet to be confirmed. Tragically, passengers from both vehicles were caught in the collision.
Survivors of the accident are currently receiving medical attention at various hospitals including the Juaso Government Hospital, Stewards Hospital in Yawkwei, Konongo Municipal Hospital, and Asante Akim Agogo Presbyterian Hospital.
The bodies of the deceased, numbering twenty-one, have been transferred to mortuaries at Stewards Hospital in Yawkwei, Konongo Municipal Hospital, and Juaso Government Hospital for identification, preservation, and autopsy procedures.
Authorities are appealing to families who suspect their relatives might have been involved in the accident to contact the Juaso and Nkawkaw Police commands for assistance in identifying the victims, including those who have tragically lost their lives.
