2025 AFCONQ: Sudan Was Lucky, But they Won’t be Lucky on Monday – Otto Addo

Ghana coach Otto Addo has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a victory against Sudan in their upcoming second-leg match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. This follows the Black Stars’ frustrating 0-0 draw in the first leg on Thursday, October 10, 2024.

Despite dominating the game and creating numerous chances, Ghana failed to break through Sudan’s defense. Addo acknowledged that his team performed better but were unlucky not to score.

Speaking to the media after the match, the former Black Stars player, who featured in the 2006 World Cup, said, “Sudan were very lucky today, but next time we meet them again in Libya, they will not be lucky. We will beat them.”

The result leaves Ghana in third place with two points from three games. The Black Stars must win the return leg, which will be held at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 13:00 GMT, to keep their qualification hopes alive for the AFCON tournament in Morocco next year.
