17 ‘Wee’ Dealers, Including Four Teenagers, Arrested in Kumasi

In a significant crackdown on drug-related activities, the Ashanti Regional Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Police Service has arrested 17 suspected ‘wee’ users and dealers in Kumasi, the regional capital. Among those apprehended are four teenagers: Abdulai Moro, 16, Mohammed Sadique, 16, Kelvin Oppong, 18, and Joseph Obeng, 18.

The arrests occurred during early morning operations on Sunday, targeting known drug hotspots, including Alabar, Kronom, Krofrom, and Tafo. The police aimed to flush out illicit narcotic drug peddlers from these areas.

In addition to the teenagers, several adults were arrested, including Abdul Samed, 23; Farouk Iddris, 22; Issah Mohammed, 35; Abubakar Umar, 33; and Haruna Yusif, 22. Other suspects include Hafius Musah, 20; Samuji Ishmaily, 24; Amina Amadu, 24; Yusif Mohammed, 30; Noble Kwarteng, 21; Martin Ampomah, 21; Kwame Oduro, 22; and Simon Obimpeh, 23.

The police recovered various paper wraps containing powdery substances and dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drugs from the suspects. All 17 individuals remain in police custody as investigations continue, and the seized exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes.
