11 Dead, 20 Injured After Vehicle Rams Into Festival Crowd in Vancouver

A tragic incident occurred in Vancouver, Canada on Saturday, April 26, 2025, when a vehicle plowed into a crowd attending the Filipino Lapu Lapu Day festival, leaving 11 people dead and 20 others injured.

The Vancouver Police Department confirmed the mass-casualty event occurred around 8:14 p.m. local time in South Vancouver. Authorities described the incident as the “darkest day” in the city’s history, assuring the public that it was not an act of terrorism.

A 30-year-old Vancouver man was arrested at the scene, and the Major Crime Section has taken charge of the investigation. Videos circulating online showed a black SUV with a damaged front end and victims lying along the street.
