Young Woman Found Drowned with Sack of Stones tied to her Waist in Eastern Region

A young woman’s body was discovered drowned under mysterious circumstances in the Upper Manya Krobo district of the Eastern Region.

The locals found her body floating near the shore of River Afram in the Akotoe community. Witnesses quickly informed community elders, who, along with a group, returned the following morning to investigate further.

They discovered the victim, believed to be an 18-year-old female, with a sack loaded with stones tied around her waist, apparently in an attempt to conceal her body.

However, the weight of the stones failed to submerge her, leaving her remains visible.

Authorities were notified, and an official report was filed with the police. The body was retrieved and taken to the police hospital morgue in Accra for further investigation.

Akor Samuel Odehi, the District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization, confirmed the incident, stating that the community members discovered the body and reported it to him.

He mentioned that the young lady appeared to have been killed, as there was a sack loaded with stones tied around her waist in an attempt to sink her body.

The community is unsettled by the incident, especially given recent cases of mysterious killings of women in the Krobo enclave. One suspect has been arrested in connection with the crime, allegedly confessing to the killings but claiming that a chop bar operator had hired him to commit the acts for some rituals.
