DSP Nana Boakye Yiadom, the Wenchi Municipal Police Commander, is receiving treatment at the Bono Regional Teaching Hospital in Sunyani after being severely beaten by a group of unidentified youth.
The assault occurred on December 10, 2024, in Tohaba, a suburb of Wenchi Municipality, following the arrest of a suspect’s wife. This arrest reportedly incited a violent reaction from local youth, leading to widespread chaos.
During the upheaval, the Police Commander’s vehicle was vandalized, a television set destroyed, and cells at the Wenchi police station were breached, enabling the escape of eight inmates.
Although peace has been restored to the area, no arrests have been made yet in connection with the incident.
The Bono Regional Police Command has refrained from commenting on the attack or the related circumstances. Investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible and determine their motives.
