WAEC Releases 2023 WASSCE Results; Blocks Thousands Over Exam Malpractices

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has unveiled the preliminary outcomes of the 2023 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). As communicated by John Kapi, the Head of Public Affairs, candidates eager to view their results can access them on the WAEC website at www.waecgh.org.

However, the Council has taken measures against certain candidates: 4,878 individuals who neglected to return provided learning materials are barred from accessing their results online. WAEC has directed these candidates to contact their respective schools for further assistance.

In addition, 3,647 candidates faced cancellations of their subject results for carrying foreign materials into the examination halls. An additional 839 candidates encountered complete result cancellations due to possession of mobile devices during the exams.

Moreover, the outcomes of 4,280 candidates in specific subjects and the entire results of 1,005 individuals have been withheld for suspected infractions. WAEC emphasized that the results of 235 schools’ candidates remain on hold due to suspected collusion and the use of artificially generated responses. Investigations into these cases are ongoing, with the possibility of releasing or annulling the withheld results based on the investigation outcomes.
