Napoli’s Victor Osimhen has been honored with the prestigious Serie A Footballer of the Year award at the AIC ceremony. The Nigerian striker’s exceptional form played a pivotal role in guiding Napoli to a victorious league season. Osimhen showcased his prowess by scoring an impressive 26 goals in 32 league matches, highlighting his unwavering dedication throughout the review period and deserving recognition.
In addition to Osimhen’s accolade, Napoli as a club received recognition, securing the Club of the Year award from the Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC). Former manager Luciano Spalletti and winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also claimed awards for Best Coach and Best Goal of the Season, respectively.
The AIC Serie A awards, established in 1968, celebrated Napoli’s exceptional performance during the 2022-23 season. The victory marked Napoli’s first league triumph in 33 years, a significant achievement reminiscent of their past glory under the leadership of the late Diego Maradona.
